We know that typical Understand for Ada customers develop software for airplanes, missile command systems, aircraft carriers, or just about any huge human endeavor. We build it for folks doing typical Ada work - big work!
Typically, 200 KSLOC projects or less take a minute to parse on a modern workstation. A million lines of code is not instant, but with a decent workstation loaded with RAM it will take hours, not days, to totally analyze all the software. Fortunately, analysis of an entire software solution only needs to be done occasionally, because Understand for Ada provides incremental analysis so that you only have to re-analyze whatever has changed and its dependencies. It figures it out automatically, so all you have to say is "refresh" and it handles it.
Additionally, Understand for Ada is designed to be used as part of a process. It offers comand-line tools for many operations so that a GUI doesn't need to be operating to analyze software or generate reports. These can be done with scheduled routines or auomatically at check-in or check-out from a CM system.
Our business relies on helping individuals with projects too big to understand, so as we built Understand for Ada, we focused, and continue to focus, on making it work "in the large."
